Lumber Yard Fire at Kansas City.
The Connet-Sturges Lumber Company’s lumber yard at Kansas City, Kan., was swept by fire at 1.50 a. m., July 25, with an estimated loss of $16,000. The same yard was destroyed one year before, lacking one day. The plant was 300 by 400 feet. The fire started in a wooden building and was reported incendiary. It burned 12 hours. When the fire department, in command of Chief John McNarry arrived the entire yard was in flames. One engine and three motor cars were in service and had 9 streams on the fire through 4,000 feet of hose. The water pressure was 85 pounds.
