Marshal Issues Fourth of July Warning to Fireworks Dealers

In a bulletin just issued, the Indiana fire marshal calls upon the dealers in the state not to lay in stocks of fireworks for use on Independence Day. “Last year a large number of Indiana cities and towns, in accordance with a request from this office, passed anti-fireworks ordinances,” says the fire marshal. “A great many more towns will pass the ordinance this year, and it is for the purpose of saving dealers the expense of laying in stocks of fireworks for which there may be no sale, that the fire marshal’s office is asking dealers to hold off their purchases of fireworks. This office has prepared model fireworks ordinances, and urges town clerks, mayors and other municipal officials of cities and towns that have no such legislation to secure copies of such model ordinance and have same immediately passed.”
