Mayor Praises Chief Boyd

Mayor Praises Chief Boyd

In submitting the report of Fire Chief Sam B. Boyd, of Knoxville, Tenn., to the city commission on September 18, Mayor E. W. Neal of that city took the occasion to express his appreciation of the work of the chief. The report covered two weeks and showed that nineteen alarms had been answered and that the property damaged had not been in excess of fifty dollars.

In speaking of the matter the mayor said that the report was by no means unusual, but that the work of Chief Boyd and the efficiency of his department had been responsible for keeping the insurance rate in Knoxville at a very low mark and that this fact should be appreciated by the general public. The mayor further stated that the fire commissioner at Nashville. Tenn., had written him on several occasions and had spoken in complimentary terms of the work of Chief Boyd and the Knoxville fire department.

Chief Sam B. Boyd, Knoxville, Tenn.
