Meter Box Used in Morgantown, N. C.
A meter box has been designed for use on the services of Morgantown, N. C., which is intended to keep out mud and water and insure the meter being kept in a dry condition. As will be seen by the illustrations herewith, it is intended to be placed just inside of the curb, in the parking between this and the sidewalk, thus providing easy access to the meter. The curb cock is included in the meter box. It had been the experience of the department, according to Superintendent J. S. Trogden, the designer of the box, that in wet weather water and mud rose over the meter, seeping through the weephole in the register box and interfering with the action of the meter. The average cost to the town of installing the box on services from the tap in the main to the parking in the sidewalk, according to Mr. Trogden, is $28.
