Michael Fitzmorris Appointed Chief of Memphis Fire Department

Michael Fitzmorris, assistant chief, who has been acting head of the department during the illness of the late Chief McFadden, has been appointed chief of the fire department of Memphis, Tenn. Julius Venturini was named his first assistant, John Moore his second assistant and Bernard O’Neill the third assistant. Lee Johnson was named a captain to fill the place left vacant by the promotion of Capt. O’Neill. Chief Fitzmorris was the choice of the late Chief McFadden, who once said: “If anything happens to me, they can’t go, wrong by naming Mike Fitzmorris a my successor. He has all the qualifies tions a fire chief needs.”
