Midwest Students Win FPE Scholarships

Fourteen midwestem high school students have been awarded fire protection engineering scholarships to the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. The awards, each valued at $6,800, are provided by stock fire insurance companies doing business in the area as an inducement to young men to qualify as engineers in fire rating and fire insurance inspection where the demand is growing for such services.

John Hommes, manager of the Western Actuarial Bureau, is chairman of the scholarship selection program which includes representatives of the Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Kansas, Oklahoma and Tennessee Rating Bureaus.
