Monmouth County Water Company Hearing
Hearings in the case of the Monmouth County Water Company, which seeks an increase in rates sufficient to assure a return of eight per cent, upon its investments, were concluded before the State Board of Public Utility Commissioners, and counsel will file briefs. The brief of J. F. Tatem, representing the company, is to be in the hands of the commission by March 20, and the answers of Ward Kremer, who appeared for Asbury Park, Bradley Beach and Neptune City, and Charles E. Cook, counsel for Neptune Township, are to be ready seven days later. The company presented two possible plans for relief, one the fixing of a higher minimum charge to consumers, and the second, a fixed service charge. The present rate is $6 for 24,000 gallons of water a year.
