MR. WILLIS C. VAJEN.

Mr. Willis C. Vajen, president and manager of the VajenBader Company, of Indianapolis, Ind., left for Paris, on the steamship Normania, of the Hamburg line, on the 12th inst. Mr. Vajen is well known to most of the fire chiefs in the United States, on account of his being the manufacturer of the VajenBader smoke protector. It is an acknowledged fact that he has contributed principally to bring this appliance to its present popularity. Owing to the intelligent and scientific manner in which Mr. Vajen proceeded to place the protector on the market, it soon attained a success, which it would probably never have reached had it been controled by other hands.

WILLIS C. VAJEN

Mr. Vajen’s trip abroad is occasioned by his not being in very good health, and is undertaken by the advice of his physician. He intends, however, with his usual energy, to introduce his protector into the different departments it) Europe, which he may visit.

The portrait given herewith will be recognized by the fire department people as a very good likeness of Mr. Vajen. Ft RE AND WATER wishes him a very successful trip and a return with renewed health.
