Municipal Fire Prevention Booth at Fair
A rather interesting and unusual procedure was the maintenance of a Fire Prevention Booth by the fire department of the city of Peoria, Ill., at the Greater Peoria Exposition and Implement Fair, held in that city on September 26 to October 4. This booth was erected and maintained by the department. Each day uniformed firemen were in attendance, and instructions were given to all persons visiting the booth in the use of hand fire extinguishers and in the proper way to transmit a fire alarm. Besides these instructions the fire department distributed more than 180,000 pieces of fire prevention literature, according to Fire Marshal W. M. Kenny, to whose courtesy FIRK AND WATER ENOINKKRINO is indebted for the illustration herewith. The weather, he writes, was ideal throughout the fair, and the attendance ranged from 10 000 on the poorest day to 26,000 on the best, so that the exhibit was brought to the attention of a great number of the citizens of Peoria ami the surrounding towns.
