N. Y. Chief’s Test Set for June 18-20
The Director of Examinations, New York City, has set June 18-20 as the dates for the examinations to select a new ‘wad for the New York Fire Department. Assistant Chief Thomas F. Dougherty had been Acting Chief since the resignation of John Kenlon.
The coming examination is open to all Deputy Chiefs who have served at that rank for not less than six months. The candidates will be rated on their examination as follows: Record and seniority, 50, and mental examination, 50. The weights of the mental examination will be Administration, 7; Laws and Ordinances, 3; Report, 2. In order to pass it is necessary to receive seventy per cent on the written examination and eighty per cent on the total.
Credits are given for official Fire Department awards.
The examination on Administration will be held June 18, Laws and Ordinances on June 19 and the examination on report, June 20.
Twenty-two candidates will be present at the examination. The position pays $12,500 a year.
