Nassau County Bans Fireworks

Nassau County Bans Fireworks

In December 1939, the Board of Supervisors of Nassau County, N. Y., adopted a Fireworks Ordinance which prohibits the sale, transportation, manufacture, storing or the use of fireworks without a written permit.

A permit will be issued to a properly qualified person, firm or corporation for a display on a specific date provided that the display is to be handled by an experienced pyrotechnician in an open place; that the applicant will observe regulations that may be deemed necessary properly to safeguard life and property; and that a bond must be posted. Violation of this ordinance is subject to a fine or imprisonment or both.
