North Carolina Fire Chief Dies from Medical Emergency

A 54-year-old chief with the Severn (NC) Volunteer Fire Department died June 18 from a medical emergency.

The U.S Fire Administration (USFA) reported that Fire Chief David K. Britt suffered a medical emergency at his home several hours after responding to a motor vehicle crash. The nature and cause of fatal injury are still to be reported.

To date, 30 firefighters have reportedly died in the line of duty in 2016, according to the USFA.
