New Chief at Savannah

New Chief at Savannah

At the recent city election in Savannah, Ga., the old administration was defeated. Mavor Ticdman and the aldermen were succeeded by an entirely new force. This change caused a shake-up in the various departments, including the fire department. Chief Thomas J. Ballantyne was succeeded by John H. Monroe: Capt. T. T. Connolly, first assistant chief, was placed on the pension list after 13 years of service: Arthur T. Toshach, formerly second assistant chief, was promoted to first assistant, and Thomas Fogarty foreman of engine company No. 2 was promoted to second assistant.
