New Hampshire Chiefs Meet

At the annual meeting of the New Hampshire Fire Chiefs Association in Concord, on April 16. the following officers were elected: Chief Anthony Molloy, Nashua, President; Chief Fred Sargent, Sunapee, First Vice President; Chief Vernon West, North Sutton, Second Vice-President; executive committee, Chief Charles H. French, Manchester, Chief George Lamotte, retiring President of Hampton, Chief Fred Sargent of Sunapee, Chief Eugene Riley of Keene and Chief H. J. Cornell of Hudson; Sergeant-at-Arms, O. B. Berquist of Berlin; auditors, Clarence H. Green of Concord and Wesley Robinson of Loudon.

A quiz program including questions which were of interest to the visiting chiefs was one of the features of the meeting.

Questions of postwar training of returning servicemen, and the training of women as firelighters in the rural communities were discussed after the quiz program, and the fact was brought out that several small communities in the state have already organized women’s auxiliary fire fighting units, which have proved effective.

Captain Alfred Kinsella, of the Mine Safety Appliance Company, gave a talk and demonstration of gas masks and first aid at the meeting of the New Hampshire Fire Chiefs’ Club at the Eagle Hotel in Concord on December 8. Chief Roy W. Mansfield, of Wolfeboro, presided. Chief Charles L. McCarthy, of Worcester, spoke briefly.
