New Rockford, Ill., Water Plant
The Rockford, Ill., water works, under Superintendent Rodney C. Wilson, placed in operation on December 28 its new $750,000 west-end plant and closed the old plant which had served continously since 1874. The new plant was thrown open to the public and visited by a great number of citizens. It has a capacity of eight million gallons with a reservoir of five million gallons capacity. The old plant will be kept for emergency purposes. The water is pumped from four wells of 1,600 feet deep by air lift pumps and forced into the reservoir from whence it is pumped into the city mains by the Snow pump.
