Ray Driskell was announced as the new chief of the Tulsa (OK) Fire Department at a press conference on Wednesday.
Driskell, 48, is replacing Fire Chief Allen LaCroix, who is retiring June 30 after a decade in the leadership post, a news report from the Tulsa World said (http://bit.ly/K2gXkm).
Driskell, a 27-year firefighting veteran, in addition to serving as fire marshal, also has held the ranks of assistant chief, district chief, chief of finance, and is currently deputy chief of the department.
At the press conference, Driskell acknowledged the help of his family and the other members of his department. Driskell said he wants to work toward improving firefighter safety, building the department’s relationships in the community, and boosting diversity in the department ranks.
