New Waterworks Plant at Wilson Creek.
The installation of a pump and engine in connection with a new waterworks system at Wilson Creek. Wash., has been completed. The well is 72 ft. deep, and contains 20 ft. of water. The reservoir is located on a high bluff, overlooking the town on the east side, and is 125 ft. above the well. A 25-horsepower engine drives the triplex pump. The latter will raise 230 gal. of water per minute, taking between eight and nine hours to fill the reservoir. Several hours’ steady pumping failed to lower the water in the well more than four inches. Twelve thousand feet of mains have been laid and additional pipe ordered for extensions of the main lines. The mains are of wood of the latest and most approved pattern and material. Ten fire hydrants have been set in advantageous positions. The city council has ordered a standard hose cart and 1,000 ft. of standard hose. The total qost of the system will be about $13,000,
