New York State Chiefs’ Convention
The annual convention of the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs, as announced by its secretary. Chief Henry R. Yates of Schenectady, N. Y., will be held at Yonkers, N. Y., on July 1 and 2. the headquarters being the New Getty House. The convention will be called to order by its president, Chief Charles Little of Rochester, N. Y., at 1 p. m. on July 1 in the common council chamber of the Yonkers City Hall. The following topics have been chosen for discussion at the meeting in the City Hall on July 1.
Topic No. 1—by Engineer J. H. Howland of the National Board of Fire Underwriter, on “Standardization of Hose Couplings and Hydrant Threads.”
Topic No. 2—“Appraisal from the Fire Chief’s Viewpoint,” by William F. Worcester, vice-president of the Lloyd-Thomas Company, Appraisers and Engineers.
Topic No. 3—“Fire Prevention and What has been Accomplished,” by Thomas P. Brophy, chief fire marshal, fire prevention division of the New York fire department.
Topic No. 4—“Our Association,” by Ex-Chief John Quigley, of Syracuse, N. Y.
At 5 p. m. the members of the association will view the Yonkers fire department and at 7 p. m. there will be a luncheon and social session at the Elks Club. The entire program will probably be issued in a few days. A large attendance is expected and a great number of applications have been received from new members for admission to the association. The secretary, Henry R. Yates, chief of the fire department of Schenectady, N. Y., announces that there has been a great demand for tickets for the Dempsey-Carpentier contest and those who desire to purchase tickets had better send in their applications at once, as the supply is very nearly exhausted.
