The scarcity of the water supply at Syracuse has resulted in a general order restricting its consumption. The car and other street sprinklers are affected. Superintendent Beebe says he will make provision for connecting the old and new mains from Skaneateles lake at a distance of about five miles from the lake. This will reduce the friction on the pipes for this distance and give a stronger head, resulting in more water passing through the main into the reservoir. He did not believe the new conduit, however, will be in condition for the connection to he made before the last of this month. This, he believed, would assist to some extent, but that the present condition of the supply will have to remain through the month of July.
