Y., showed that the men of his department responded to 25 alarms during the month, of which 17 were still alarms and 2 were calls from outside the city. One of the latter calls was to Fort Niagara, where six barracks were destroyed. Of the 23 fires in the city to which the department responded, 10 resulted in no loss, while the others entailed a combined loss of $3,795. None of these individual losses was over $1,400.
