NJ Firehouse Burns

An early-morning fire burned a fire station in Woodbury Heights, New Jersey.

Woodbury Heights Fire Chief Rob Conley said the fire broke out at around 5:30 a.m. Friday on the second floor of the volunteer fire department’s headquarters, according to a WPVI report (http://bit.ly/GIJh8k).

It took firefighters nearly 90 minutes to get flames from the three-alarm fire under control, and required assistance from other neighboring departments. One firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation.

Three pumpers and an ambulance were safely removed from the building, according to the news report. However, the chief said the 101-year-old fire department’s files and historic records were near the burned area.
