No Lounging in Boston Fire Houses

In a special general order of the Boston fire department issued to all company commanders attention was called to the rules regarding visitors in fire stations. It was ordered that there be no lounging about the main floors of fire stations, that company journals be kept closed except when entries are being made, and that no civilians be permitted to assist firemen at fires unless specially requested to do so. It has also been announced that only half as many fire line badges will be issued this year as previously.

Two Platoons Adopted at Gardner, Mass.—The twoplatoon system has been adopted by the fire department at Gardner. Mass., and has gone into effect early this month.
