Long Island (NY) Firefighter Badly Injured in Fire

An Inwood (NY) firefighter was critically injured on the fireground in Nassau County Friday.

According to a report from Newsday (http://nwsdy.li/1Ammj5v), volunteer firefighters from other departments found him “by chance” in the basement of a burning home in Woodmere. More than 200 firefighters responded to the incident.

WABC (http://7ny.tv/1zdqmlt) reported that the firefighter apparently fell through the first floor and into the basement after entering the building. He was in cardiac arrest; he was revived and transported to an area hospital, where he is listed in critical but stable condition.
