October Fire Losses

Estimated dollar losses caused by fires in the United States totaled $121,754,000 in October, the National Insurance Actuarial and Statistical Association reported.

This was an increase of 12 percent over $108,715,000 for October 1965 and an increase of 2.6 percent over $188,712,000 for September 1966.

Estimated fire losses were $1,238,916,000 for the first ten months of 1966, compared with $1,219,313,000 in the like ten months last year, an increase of 1.6 percent.

These losses include an allowance for uninsured and unreported losses.

Estimated dollar losses caused by fires in October in the United States totaled $106,113,000, the National Board of Fire Underwriters reported.

This was an increase of 5.5 percent over losses of $100,553,000 in September, and a decrease of 3.1 percent under $109,522,000 in October 1963, said Lewis A. Vincent, NBFU general manager.

For the first 10 months of 196-1, losses totaled $1,138,328,000, a decrease of 4.9 percent under $1,197, 534,000 in the like 1963 period.

Estimated losses include an allowance for uninsured and unreported losses.
