Ohio Firemen Hold Convention

The Amalgamated Association of Firemen of Ohio at its annual meeting, held at Springfield, O., elected the following Board of Officers: J. A. Kirby, Dayton, president; S. P. Pond, DeGraff, recording secretary; W. M. McFadden, Dayton, secretary treasurer; W. D. Webb, East Liverpool, first vice-president; F. A. Curtis, Lima, second vice-president; James Fitton, Bellaire, third vice-president, and S. J. VanTine, Dennison, fourth vice-president. After the three-day convention the delegates left for home, having highest regards for the way they were treated by the citizens of Springfield. The streets were all decorated with the national colors, and on the evening of the 27th there was a band concert on the Public Square, a parade of the Ohio firemen and Springfield’s completely motorized fire department, which is commanded by Chief S. F. Hunter. All the apparatus was painted white, which was a beautiful sight with the modern paved streets and beautiful cluster light system, and on the same evening after the parade there was a ball given at the Memorial Building free to all visitors. The convention and exhibit halls were combined in the same building. The Association was welcomed on behalf of the city by City Manager Charles E. Ashburner and by B. F. Downey, of the Chamber of Commerce. Chief D. K. Moser, of Warren; F. M. Grisw’old, of New York, and Paul Mason made responses.
