Oil Cloth Works Fire in Philadelphia

Oil Cloth Works Fire in Philadelphia

Two illustrations on this page show scenes at the recent fire in one of the buildings of the Thomas Potter Sons’ Company at Philadelphia, Pa., at which Battalion Chief William F. James and Ladderman John Hillman, Jr., were killed and nine firemen, including Chief William Murphy, were injured by a falling wall. Chief Murphy said an explosion evidently blew out the wall. One of the illustrations gives a general view of the exterior of the building, and the other shows the debris from the fallen wall that caused death and injury to the firemen.
