The convention of the Oklahoma State Firemen’s association will meet at Shawnee during the first week in May. Chief Buck, of the Bartlesville fire department, has prepared a paper on “The proper protection of fire-escapes in theatres and public buildings.” It will form the principal subject for discussion. Other subjects will be as follows: “Economic fire protection for towns of small population,” by Chief Atkinson, of Duncan; “The best method of protecting towns without waterworks system,” by Chief Frey, of Marietta; “Value of public fire cisterns in the streets of the business districts of small towns as auxiliary lire protectors,” by Chief Kesler, of Oklahoma City: “Duties of the fire department in inspecting buildings and preventing fires,” by Chief Stagg, of Claremore; “Interchangeable hose connections for adjacent towns as a means of aiding each other in large conflagrations,” by Chief Foster, of Chandler.
