One Day Off in Three for Dayton
City Manager Waite, of Dayton, O., has decided to give the firemen there one day off in each three, instead of one in five. This action was the result of a campaign for the two platoon system instituted there. The Dayton Department was reorganized a short time ago, 23 firemen being added to its roster. One hundred and twenty-five firemen are now available for fire fighting—104 were formerly available. At meal time 81 men are now available instead of 69. The fire losses for the year 1914, were $330,000. During 1915, over 3,000 inspections were made and the fire losses were cut down to $213,000.
