The chief of the Franklin Township (PA) Volunteer Fire Department was killed Thursday night in a two-vehicle crash. A passenger, who some media organizations identified as the assistant chief of the fire department, was injured.
It is not clear from news reports whether he was en route or returning from a call when the deadly incident occurred.
David M. Flint, 49, was chief of the department for about six years, according to the Erie Times-News (http://bit.ly/yC73XM).
The accident occurred when the 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier Flint was driving was struck by an eastbound 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had crossed the centerline.
A passenger in Flint’s car, identified as Sharon C. Petri, 40, was flown to a medical facility. The driver of the other vehicle, a 29-year-old male, was transported to a different hospital.
