Pacific Coast Chiefs to Meet in July

The thirty-six annual convention of the Pacific Coast Association of Fire Chiefs will be held at Vancouver, B. C., on July 23 to 26, the headquarters hotel being the “Vancouver.” The local arrangements are in charge of Chief Charles Thompson, of the Vancouver Fire Department. The tentative program is as follows:

Monday, July 22.

8:00 p.m. Get-together Party, Vancouver Hotel Ballroom.

7:00 p.m. Officers’ Dinner, ing Indies’ Auxiliary.

Tuesday. July 23.

10:00 a.m. Opening: Session. Music by Pasadena Fire Department Band, Seattle Fire Department Orchestra and Quartette.

Meeting: called to order by President. Thomas R. Graham. Introduction of Distinguished Guests.

Address by Chief John M. Evans, of New Orleans. President International Association of Fire Chiefs.

Pacific Coast President’s Address.

Music by Portland Fire Department Orchestra and Quartette.

11:00 a.m. Memorial Services. Address by speaker representing Ladies’ Auxiliary.

2:30 p.m. Ladies’ Auxiliary, Vancouver. Business Session— Oils.

6:00 p.m. Dinner—British Columbia, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana Chiefs.

7:30 p.m. Round Table—Discussion.

Ladies’ Committee has planned theatre parties, shopping trip through historic Hudson Bay Store, etc.

Pacific Coast Chiefs to Meet in July

The Pacific Coast Association of Fire Chiefs will meet in Vancouver, B. C., July 23-26, with headquarters at the Vancouver Hotel. Music during the convention will be furnished by the Pasadena Fire Department Band, and the Seattle Fire Department Orchestra and Quartette.

Papers will be presented on rural fire protection, approved vs. non-approved appliances, manufacture and use of nitrocellulose lacquers, use of dynamite during conflagrations, carbon-dioxide gas, fire fighting in extreme cold weather, use of water at fires, booster pumps, and the fire alarm system.

The ladies’ committee have planned theatre parties, shopping trips through the historic Hudson Bay Store, and other means of diversion. The local committee suggests that reservations be made immediately as Vancouver is always filled with tourists during July and August.
