Pacific Fire Chiefs’ Convention Proceedings

The proceedings of the thirty-first annual convention of the Pacific Coast Association of Fire Chiefs, held at Pasadena, Cal., on August 5 to 8. 1924, has recently been issued by Secretary Jav C. Stevens, and is a handsomely printed volume of 288 pages, with a firemen’s red cover. Besides the full proceedings of last year’s convention, the book contains a list of officers and the constitution and by-laws of the association. It is profusely illustrated throughout, and contains portraits of the principal guests of the convention, fire prevention engineers, and chiefs and other officers who are members of the association.

Fire Roads Keep Way Clear for Fire Apparatus Needles. Cal., has introduced the idea of establishing so ealled Fire Roads, the plan providing that certain roads must be kept entirely unencumbered at all times, so as to provide an unobstructed passage for the fire department in answering alarms. The rule, as shown in the sign in the accompanying illustration, is said to be rigidly enforced, and to be working out well.

Pennsylvania Water Works to be Sold—On September 24, the plant, equipment, real estate and other assets of the Rutherford Heights Water Supply Company will he sold at public auction at the Dauphin County court house. The money received from the sale will be used to retire the $100,000 mortgage bond issue and the balance, if any, will retire the second mortgage bonds.
