Pacific Rating Bureau Adjusts Rates
Rate changes recently made by the Pacific Rating Bureau for the Los Angeles area brought reductions in premiums for dwelling owners in the brush areas whose homes have noncombustible roofs such as slate or tile. For others in nonprotected areas who keep their grounds free of brush within a 100-foot radius of dwelling, rates went down from about $50 to $100. Reductions were also granted in Los Angeles City proper and tire county as a result of expanded fire fighting facilities.
As a result of consistently adverse loss experiences, the Bureau announced an upward adjustment of rates for California schools in the Class C (wood-joisted masonry) and D (frame) categories.
