Plot to Burn Detroit.
Superintendent of Police Starkweather of Detroit was informed by one of the members of his detective force early last Monday morning, and he subsequently verified the information, that a plot had been concocted by certain persons in the city to destroy the water-works pumping station with dynamite. Then, with the water supply cut off, fires in several parts of the city were to be started. A prompt meeting of the Water Board and great vigilance on the part of the police have prevented a realization of the plot thus far. Special policemen are still on guard at night at the water-works. It is said the persons who figured as principals in the proposed plot are known to the police and that arrests will follow.
