Praise for Chief E. F. Saunders

The trustees of the Hildreth building of Lowell, Mass., in which a destructive fire recently took place, have sent to Chief E. F. Saunders the following letter: “The enclosed check for the Firemen’s Relief Association is an expression of our appreciation of the splendid service renderd by your department in controlling the fire last Saturday in the Hildrcdth building. We also take this opportunity to congratulate you personally and your able asistants, District Chiefs Sullivan and Crowley upon the excellent judgment displayed in handling the fire and upon your unfailing courtesy and patience under such trying conditions.” Chief Saunders, also received the folowing letter: “The officers and directors of the Lowell Mutual Fire Insurance Company desire to express to you their appreciation of the excellent service rendered by your department at the fire in the Hildreth building on last Saturday night and we are pleased to hand you herewith our check for $50 which our directors have unanimously voted for the benefit of the Firemen’s Relief Association.” To the fire commissioners the trustees of the building also sent this letter. “We have taken pleasure in contributing to the Firemen’s Relief Association through your able chief engineer, Edward F. Saunders, and we desire to congratulate you upon the efficiency of your department in controlling the recent fire in the Hildreth building. The citizens of Lowell are indeed fortunate in being served by such an able body of men.”
