Praise for Chief McFadden
Chief John E. McFadden, of Memphis, Tenn., has received the following letter of commendation for the way he and the department handled a recent fire in the old court house:
Mr. J. E. McFadden, City.
Dear Chief:—In behalf of the companies which are operating in Memphis and which we have the honor to be managers for, we desire to extend to you and your men our heartiest congratulations and commendation on the way you handled the fire of the old Court House on Saturday last. For a time it appeared that there would be a serious conflagration, but by your intelligent work the loss was confined solely to the building in which it originated and we feel that in accomplishing feats of this kind you should know that the labors of you and your men are appreciated by the companies who pay the loss.
Yours very truly,
W. L. NELSON & CO., General Agents.
