Promotions and Transfers in Rochester
Commissioner of Public Safety Hamilton of Rochester, N. V., recently announced several changes, promotions and transfers in the fire department of that city. Twenty-five new privates were appointed to man two new fire houses recently opened. Captain Morris Keating was named on the eligible list for battalion chief to fill the vacancy made by the retirement of Battalion Chief James T. Lynch. Assistant Battalion Chiefs R. A. Fitts and George J. Moran were also promoted to battalion chiefs, as the recent fire department regarding ordinance provided for six battalion chiefs instead of four and two assistant chiefs. With the establishment of two recently purchased pumpers in Engine 1 and Engine 4 houses last fall, two of the old steamers were put respectively into the quarters of Hose 21 and Hose 12, the latter being held in reserve.
