PROPOSED RESERVOIR AT DENVER, COLO.
At Denver, Colo., in pursuance of the fight which the residents near Congress park are making against the construction of another water company reservoir adjoining the one now located in that section of the city, affidavits have just been filed in the District court attesting the truth of the statements contained in the application for an injunction filed in that court. This complaint alleges that the lease which the water company holds was illegally obtained, and that, if the new reservoir is constructed, it will damage property in that section of the city fifty per cent. The suit will be vigorously pushed by the attorneys for the fourteen residents of Congress park who have instituted the action. There are scores of homes near the proposed reservoir, many of them among the finest in the city, and the owners arc determined that the water company shall not lie allowed to endanger the health of their children (as they claim) and lower the value of their property merely to save the few dollars which would be necessary to install a gravity system such as is in use in other cities of this size. The Colonial club, of Meriden, Conn., wiil adopt measures for its better protection in case of a fire breaking out in the block. There is a lack of fire escapes in their neighborhood.
