Puerto Rico Fire Losses Drop
The Insular Fire Service of Puerto Rico, under the command of Chief Raul Gandara, report a marked decrease in fire losses over the past three years. For the year of 1947-48 the total fire losses for all communities on the island amounted to $2,480,588.10. The following year, 1948-49, they had dropped to $1,741,200.02, while for the past year. 1949-50, they reached a new low of $1,116,538.32.’
During the last year, 498 fire inspections were made by members of the Insular Fire Service.
