Pumps Extinguish Pump House Fire
Clinton, Ky., Water and Light Company’s plant was recently visited with a fire which started on the roof of the pump house building and was probably the result of crossed electric wires. The local fire company worked well, but could not prevent a loss of several thousand dollars. For some time, indeed, it seemed as if the whole pumping plant were doomed, together with the electric plant and ice factory. As it is, the whole town was in darkness for several nights. An unusual feature of the fire was that when the blaze first started, the force pump of the water works system was started at its fullest and kept hard at it all the time pumping water to put its own plant out.
