“QUICK AS WINK” HOSE COUPLER.
The W. J. Clark Company of Salem, Mass., has contributed much that is useful in the inventive way to the world in general. One of its most useful inventions has been the “Quick as Wink” hose coupler, which even a child can manipulate on occasion. It requires no spanner or other tool except a small flat pocket key for disconnecting. All delay with cross threads is avoided, and the greater the pressure of water, the more absolutely certain is the security of the connection and the freedom from leakage. Vet, although the connection is absolutely watertight, the two parts are at the same time loose and perfectly free to swivel upon each other. Connections can be made or broken while the water pressure (even if too (rounds) is on. A quarter turn with the key opens the jaws and breaks the connection. It is attached to the hose in the usual way (by expansion rings), and the waterway is smooth and unobstructed—the same as in the improved screw couplings. If somewhat flattened by accident, it is not inoperative like a screw coupling. It calls for no experienced person to operate it skilfully and successfully in an emergencyIt is not rendered inoperative by mud and slush; its construction is simple, without any delicate parts to get out of order; and it will stand rough usage or severe strains. ‘ Quick as Wink” hose coupler is in very general use all over this continent, and it may be added that no adverse ciiticism has yet been heard about it. On the contrary, it has been highly praised wherever it is used.
