Racine, Wis., Fireman Cited for Heroism
Last summer off-duty fireman Sam Graceffa rescued an 11-year-old girl from the cold, choppy water of Lake Michigan. In February, Fireman Graceffa was honored for his heroism.
He received the Frank R. Starbuck Memorial Award which is given each year to a Racine, Wis., resident who has distinguished himself in the preservation of life and property. He is the first fireman ever to win the award. Shown in the photo (left to right) are: Robert Sorenson, executive secretary, County Safety Council; Fire Chief Rudolph Anderson; Fireman Graceffa
