Recovered Damages for Injuries.

The case of Stanton Turner, the Indianapolis Fireman who sued the city for $25,000 on account of having lost a leg while running to a fire, was terminated on November 14 by a verdict of $5,000. This case could have been settled at the time by paying Turner’s doctor’s bill and a few hundred dollars in addition, but the authorities meanly held that because Turner was in the city’s employ and under pay, he was entitled to no indemnity for the accident, caused by leaving a huge bowlder in the street. The City Attorney will appeal the case, which will make more costs for the city to pay.
