Red Canyon Fire (CO) Now at 390 Acres

Although firefighters report no growth overnight, the latest thermal mapping indicates the Red Canyon Fire southeast of Glenwood Springs (CO) is now at 390 acres and 27 percent containment, reports TheDenverChannel.com.

The battle against the fire will continue to focus on suppression of the fire. The incident management team says they’ll use three single engine air tankers and two helicopters to fight the flames from above.

On the ground, five hand crews with 20 members each, 20 fire engines, three water tenders and a bulldozer are working against the fire.

“We anticipate that weather today will bring afternoon winds associated with passing thunder cells that may increase fire activity,” the incident management team wrote in their latest update.
