Refunding I. A. F. E. Convention Surplus
Subscribers to the fund raised for the recent fire chiefs’ convention held in New York will receive “balance” checks from Fire Commissioner Johnson. It was found after all expenses of the convention had been paid, including the entertaining of the visitors, that over $7,000 of the subscribed amount had remained unexpended. The total subscription was $31,169. The convention and exposition of fire fighters was held in New York during the first week of September last. Some 1,200 visiting fire chiefs were entertained. Not a penny for their entertainment or for purposes of the convention was appropriated by the city.
