Relief Fund of $72,750.

A committee of various heads of downtown financial firms, and known as the “Bankers’ Committee,” announced last week that it was soliciting contributions both to provide for the families of Chief Walsh and the other Equitable fire victims and to establish a permanent fund for the relief of policemen and firemen who may be injured in similar emergencies, or for the families of the policemen or firemen who are killed. The permanent fund is to be administered by a board of trustees who have not yet been named. The contributions have reached about $100,000 thus far.
