A Mount Marion (NY) fire captain killed during a structure fire apparently inhaled superheated gases and suffered respiratory failure, accoridng to a report.
The Daily Freeman reported on the case of Capt. Jack Rose, 19, who died December 19, 2015, after going into distress while helping fight a chimney fire. The fire was ruled accidental.

According to the Freeman, Saugerties Police Chief Joseph Sinagra said Rose was wearing an air pack when he entered the home and when his body was found and that the firefighter‘s death was the result of “either a mechanical condition or human error.”
