RESTRICTION ON DYNAMITE IN CHICAGO.
Chief Horan, of the Chicago fire department, in response to complaints from South Side residents that large quantities of dynamite are stored by the Parker-Washington company at Seventythird street and Bennett avenue for use in the southwest land tunnel, visited the scene and was told that 140 lbs. of dynamite were kept on hand.
This amount, the chief said, was excessive and the company agreed to build two additional storehouses, in order to reduce the amount of explosive kept in any one place. The company also agreed to post danger signs on each of the storehouses. Battalion Chief Driscoll was ordered to inspect the storehouses twice a week and report the amount of dynamite kept on hand.
