The exhibit of the Rex Fire Extinguisher company at the convention will show what persistence and untiring energy will do in the face of great competition. The motto of the company, to produce only the best articles in their line. Las made a reputation for the Rex extinguishers and engines that is worldwide, and the Rex extinguisher is to-day a household word in all English speasing countries, as well as on the continent of Europe and far East. Jas. Wheaton Clarke, the president, whose portrait is shown above, possisses the practical knowledge as to what is wanted by the public in the fire extinguisher line, which, combined with his push and lion-, estv of purpose, commands from all, even his competitors, respect, and all visitors to the exhibit will he interested in inspecting the handsome engines and extinguishers on view. The varied experience of Mr. Clarke, who has met with many severe injuries from burns at tests given by him, has given him the practical knowledge which has enabled the company to bring as near perfection as possible the various articles it manufactures. The experts appointed by the United States government approved of and ordered the Rex chemical engines and extinguishers for the equipment of the Soldiers’ homes, navy yards and public buildings, as did also the New York State authorities, for the protection of the buildings of the State institutions, and the high esteem in which they arc held by large corporations is evidenced by the tact that the Rex company has just completed att order for over 1,800 extinguishers for the various plants o_____ the National Biscuit company, and the New York, new iiaven & _____rtford Railroad company have recently adopted them for the protection of that system.
