Schenectady Fire Report
The fire loss in Schenectady, N. Y., for the year ending December 1. was $135,070, according to the annual report of Chief Henry R. Yates, and the number of alarms responded to was 375. In 1913 there were 382 fires and the loss was $147,284, a decrease of about $12,000 for this year. Much of this decrease is attributed to the work of Deputy Fire Marshal Brownell and the paid men of the department, who have been active during the year in fire prevention work. There are 320 members of the volunteer department, with two volunteer assistant chiefs. There were five suspensions for minor infractions of the rules, two deaths of paid members and two resignations, with five appointments.
