Self-Contained Pumping Outfit
IN the illustration is shown a pumping unit of a type supplied to several villages by the Novo Engine Company, Lansing, Mich., builders of self-contained gasoline engines and pumping outfits. It consists of a 15 horsepower Novo, twin cylinder gasoline engine, mounted on a specially designed cast iron bed with a deep well pump head which it drives through the speed reducing gearing shown. This is known as a Novo No. 7 Pumping Outfit, the pump having a six inch discharge. The Novo No. 6 pumping outfit consists of a triplex pump having a capacity of 80 gallons per minute against a total head of 460 feet, 200 pounds pressure. The same engine is also supplied with a 6 x 8 inch pump which has a capacity of 125 gallons per minute at slightly less head, i. e., 350 feet at a pressure of 150 pounds. Both of these pumping outfits are also self-contained in that the motor and pump are mounted on a specially designed cast iron bed.
